About Australia
Australia is known for its natural treasures and its cultural diversity. Australia offers a wealth of travel experiences, from the vastness and drama of the outback, to the spectacle of the Great Barrier Reef and its islands, the cosmopolitanism of Sydney and other capital cities and arguably some of the best beaches in the world. Australia has modern up-to-date schools, colleges and universities that teach advanced technology and the arts. Australia has a modern health, medical and welfare system for all ages.
Politically the country is very democratic and every Australian citizen has a vote for local government, for state government and for the federal government. Elected government officers hold open meetings with constituents in an effort to give every citizen a voice on how Australia is governed.
There are thousands of job vacancies for all types of professions and skills offered every day in newspapers and through online employment agencies. They offer good pay and quality working conditions. Most of the wealthiest people living in Australia arrived here as immigrants.
Time: There are three time zones: Eastern Standard Time is UTC plus 10 hours; Central Time is UTC plus 9.5 hours; and Western Time UTC plus eight hours. Also, the summer time is adjusted for daylight savings.
